Fort Fairfield & Millinocket – Nicholas R. LaPoint, 41, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his Fort Fairfield home. He was born May 20, 1979 in Millinocket, the son of Leonard and M. Gail (Cyr) LaPoint.

He was a graduate of the Stearns High School, Millinocket, Class of 1998 and served in the United States Army from 1998 to 2001. Nicholas was an extremely hard worker, having been employed by several businesses, including Huber Engineered Wood Products, Easton and McCain Foods, Easton, where he worked at the time of his death.

Family meant everything to Nicholas, especially his daughter, Grace, and he loved to joke and tease. He was a real “Good Old Boy” and will be missed by all who knew him. He is now in Heaven, surrounded by the love of his father, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

He was predeceased by his father, Leonard LaPoint; paternal grandparents, Emile and Delphine LaPoint; maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Theresa Cyr. He is survived by his daughter, Grace LaPoint-Robinson of St. David; his mother, M. Gail LaPoint of Bangor; one sister, Reneé LaPoint and her companion Phil Carmichael of Hermon; a niece, Makayla Rudge of Hermon.

Services will take place at a later date, with interment at the Millinocket Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Nicholas to the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association, Founder Affiliate, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 44 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
