PRESQUE ISLE & FORT FAIRFIELD

Presque Isle & Fort Fairfield – Ricky A. DeWitt, 63, passed away Monday afternoon, July 12, 2021 at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born May 27, 1958 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Wayne C. and Lorraine M. (Chapman) DeWitt.

Ricky was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1977 and went on to serve his country with the United States Navy from February 1979 to February 1985, as a boiler operator and was stationed on the Aircraft Carrier USS Ranger. He later worked as a boiler operator for Levesque Lumber in Masardis for many years and later became employed in the same capacity with Pineland Farms in Mars Hill for several years. Ricky was a member of the Fort Fairfield Rifle and Pistol Club and enjoyed fly-fishing, tying flies, photography, motorcycling, and sports cars, especially Corvettes.

He was predeceased by his father, Wayne C. DeWitt; and one brother, Randy DeWitt.

He is survived by his mother, Lorraine DeWitt of Presque Isle; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Rocky and Vickie DeWitt of Fort Fairfield, Ronny and Maryline DeWitt of Connor, Robby and Cindy DeWitt of College Station, Texas; one sister, Ruth DeWitt Kish of Hudson. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mrs. Randy (Bonnie) DeWitt of Presque Isle; a brother-in-law, Michael Kish of Milford; and his best friend “Bud the Bird”; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 37 Lombard Road, Caribou with the Rev. Ron Doughty officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Ricky to a charity or organization of one’s choice.
