Washburn – Marilyn J. Van Scooter, 77, wife of Albert A. Van Scooter, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday April 8, 2018 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born June 1, 1940 in Wade, the daughter of Millage F. and Marjorie (Maynard) Howe.

She was a graduate of the Washburn High School, Class of 1959, and held various jobs during her lifetime. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and painting, however her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by three brothers, Gary, Thomas, and Richard Howe; two sisters, Shirley (Howe) Smith and Alice (Howe) LaPointe; one grandson, Jonathan Rundstrom; one brother-in-law, Robert Smith. She is survived by her loving husband, Albert of Washburn; one son, Kirk Rundstrom and his wife Kim and their sons Jeremy, Timothy and Warren, all of Lewsiton; one daughter, Tammy Deschesne and her husband David of Fort Fairfield and their son Robert Deschesne of Washburn; three stepchildren and their spouses, Alan and Joy Wing of Marcellus, NY, Shawn Van Scooter of Rochester, NY; Jean and Sunna Christina Stettnich of Los Angeles, CA; six step grandchildren, Miranda, Lucas, Jackie, Jake and T.J. Wing, all of New York State, Paul Stettnich of Germany; two brothers, Freeman Howe and his wife Phyllis of Presque Isle, Donald Howe of Denton, TX; four sisters-in-law, Charlotte Howe of Mapleton, Gloria Goodwin of Presque Isle, Joan Howe of Mapleton, Barbara Howe of Pilot Point, TX; one brother-in-law, Henry LaPointe of Riverside, CA; two aunts; and many cousins and extended family members.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Marilyn to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
