ASHLAND

Ashland – Karen G. York, 64, wife of Elden E. York Jr., passed away Saturday morning, January 25, 2020 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following an extended illness. She was born August 31, 1955 in Ashland, the daughter of Angus and Avril (Colbath) Blair.

She was a graduate the Ashland High School, Class of 1973 and was married to Elden E. York Jr. on January 25, 1975. Karen had been employed by Aroostook Shoe and Converse Shoe in Presque Isle for a number of years and also worked over the years for both Ellis and Graham Farms, Ashland. Karen enjoyed Bingo and Slot Mania online, and was a member of the Slotto Club. She was affectionately known as the “Boss Lady”, always willing to take charge in any situation. She was a friend to all and a wonderful caretaker to her family.

In addition to her parents, Karen was predeceased by two brothers, Rodney and Norman Blair; one sister, Virginia Burpee. She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Elden of Ashland; two daughters, Autumn A. Howes and her husband Dana, Mary A. York, all of Ashland; three sisters, Marjorie McPherson of Presque Isle, Brenda Wentworth and her husband Dennis of Ashland, Wendy Hunt and her husband Gary of Arizona; two grandchildren, Jonathan Howes, Julian Marie Howes, both of Ashland; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at the family home at a later date and time to be announced by the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
