Limestone – Jeanine A. O’Bar, 78, wife of George O’Bar Jr., passed away Monday morning, April 20, 2020, at a Frenchville nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born December 18, 1941 in Grand Isle, the daughter of Ned and Rhea Gendreau.

She became a resident of Limestone in 1942 and was a graduate of the Limestone High School, Class of 1960. Jeanine was married to George O’Bar Jr. on April 20, 1963 and was a very dedicated communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. She was a great supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and organized the first St. Jude’s Bike-a-thon in Limestone and the many others that followed. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress, and was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Jeanine was predeceased by one brother, Vernon Gendreau. She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, George O’Bar Jr. of Westfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Troy B. and Ellen O’Bar of Limestone, George III and Elizabeth O’Bar of Bangor; two brothers, Clarence “Joseph” Gendreau of Clarksville, TN, Reynald Gendreau of Reading, PA; five sisters, Velma Brown of Wentworth, NH, Loraine Gendreau, Judy Bell and her husband James, Anette Tardy and her husband Larry, Ellen Gendreau and her companion Preston, all of Limestone; five grandchildren and spouses, Amanda and Joe Overlock of Warren, Jerica O’Bar of Bangor, Kenneth and Ashley O’Bar of Caribou, Kimberly O’Bar of Westfield, Kaitlyn O’Bar and her fiancé Ryan of Limestone; step-grandson, Andrew DeChaine of Albany, NY; two great grandchildren, Brady Overlock of Warren, Kaston O’Bar of Limestone; numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to current restrictions on gatherings, calling hours will be private. Services will be conducted at a later date with interment at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. O’Bar to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
