Limestone – Reta M. Johndro, 90, wife of the late Elwood J. Johndro, passed away Monday evening, July 13, 2020 at a Van Buren nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born February 9, 1930 in Blaine, the daughter of Walter and Angeline (Brooker) Holmes.

She attended school in Blaine and was a graduate of the Limestone High school. She was married to Elwood J. Johndro on September 13, 1953 and had been employed by the Limestone Electric Company, the Chain Apparel Clothing Company in Limestone, and the Limestone Laundry Mat. Reta was a very quite person who loved dogs and cats. She possessed a great deal of knowledge about her family and genealogy. She was the classic all American housewife, and always rose early in the morning to collect the daily newspapers and deliver them to her neighbor’s doors while residing at Limestone Estates. She was a member of the Limestone Assembly of God. In addition to her parents, Reta was predeceased by her husband Elwood on January 21, 2010; one brother, Walter Holmes Jr..

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Patricia Johndro of Caribou; two grandchildren, Melissa Zabierek and her husband James of Howland, Bryant Lewis and his wife Candice of Augusta; six great grandchildren, Isabelle, Abigail, Benjamin, Emma and Noah Lewis, all of Augusta, Parker Zabierek of Howland; nine nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday, July 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Advent Cemetery, Grand Falls Road, Limestone with the Rev. Robert Amuzzini officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Johndro to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
