Fort Fairfield – Joan W. Lewis, 83, wife of the late Carl R. Lewis, passed away Wednesday morning September 9, 2020 at her Fort Fairfield home, following a brief illness. She was born April 25, 1937 in Lickford, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Arthur and Violet (Finnamore) Finkill.

She was a graduate of the Perth-Andover High School, Class of 1957 and had been a member of the Andover, NB Anglican Church. As a military wife, Joan enjoyed traveling to various locations with her husband Carl. Following their military life, they also enjoyed traveling and camping in their fifth wheel camper. She especially loved the frequent phone calls from her niece and nephew, Paula and Nick.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Carl in 2015; one brother, George Finkill; one sister, Jane Finnamore; one niece, Paula Taylor. She is survived by two nephews, Nick Finnamore and his wife Tammy of Arthurette, New Brunswick, Burton Taylor of Plaster Rock, New Brunswick; special friends and caregivers, Paul and Brenda Reid of Fort Fairfield.

There will be no services. Interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Lewis to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
