Obituary for Michael P. "Bird" Ireland

MICHAEL P. “BIRD” IRELAND
ASHLAND

Ashland – Michael P. “Bird” Ireland, 68, husband of Carol A. (Keegan) Ireland, passed away Thursday afternoon May 6, 2021 at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born May 13, 1952 in Ashland, the son of Elbert and E. Sally (Clark) Ireland.

He was a graduate of the Ashland High School, Class of 1972 and was married to Carol A. Keegan on November 1, 1985. Bird was employed as a truck driver for MTK Inc. in Garfield for twenty-three years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, especially at Birch Point, Island Falls.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ireland was predeceased by one brother, Daniel Ireland.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Carol A. Ireland of Ashland; three brothers, Bobby Ireland of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Kenny Ireland of Ashland, Tim Ireland and his wife Denise of Auburn. He also leaves behind and will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Barnes of Fort Fairfield; four sisters-in-law, Cathy Edmunds and her husband Mike of Fort Fairfield, Marylee Seamandel and her husband Jeff and family of Wisconsin, Donna Keegan and family of Fort Fairfield, Michelle Jackson and family of Fort Fairfield; two brothers-in-law, Allan Keegan and Dick Keegan, both of Fort Fairfield. He will be greatly missed by nephews, Joshua “Buzzy” Barnes, Maison Edmunds, Wyatt Keegan, Powers Edmunds and his fiancé Paige Deveau, all of Fort Fairfield; nieces, Amy Siemiatkoski and family, Lauren Keegan and family, all of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends, Mandy Caron, Liam “Bugaboo” and Emma “Little Angel”, all of Masardis, Lisa and Tom Martin of Ashland, Tony Clark and Shelly Esancy, both of Nashville Plantation, and many others that are too great to list.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday July 16, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Ireland to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, Maine 04086.
