JAYSON C. “JAY” LEAVITT
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Jayson C. “Jay” Leavitt, 62, husband of Michele “Shelly” (Cyr) Leavitt, passed away Sunday morning, June 27, 2021 at his Fort Fairfield home, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 12, 1958 in Caribou, the son of Ronald and Janice (Lister) Leavitt.

Jay attended schools in both Caribou and Fort Fairfield. He was self-employed for a number of years doing auto-body and mechanics, and also worked for twelve years at the Maine Military Authority, Loring Air Force Base. Jay loved life and being with his family. He was a sportsman and enjoyed camping, sitting by the campfire, and taking country rides. Jay had many friends and would help anyone, always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his stepfather, Sterley Phil Palmer, Jr.; grandparents, Harry and Lena (Willard) Leavitt and Forrest and Annie (Parker) Lister.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Melissa Bubar and her fiancé Josh Field of Levant; two very special granddaughters, Ella and Emma Field, both of Levant; siblings, Rhonda Michaud and her husband Brent, JoAnna L. Leavitt, all of Fort Fairfield, Brian Leavitt and his companion Katrina Young of Caribou; stepbrothers, Bobby and Stewart Palmer; stepsister, Sharon Moxley. He also had twenty-seven nieces and nephews, spanning over three generations, and they all loved their Uncle Jay.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou with Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Jay to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
