Easton – Carol P. Johnston, 77, wife of the late Eugene E. Johnston, passed away Monday morning, July 26, 2021 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief period of declining health. She was born October 8, 1943 in Perth, New Brunswick, the daughter of Borden F. and Phyllis L. (Taylor) DeMerchant.

She was a graduate of the Southern Victoria High School, Perth-Andover, NB, Class of 1961 and was married to Eugene E. Johnston on November 10, 1961. Carol had been employed by several area businesses during her working years, including N.B. Tel, Richard Kneeland Farms, Easton, Graphic Utilities, Fort Fairfield, and Campbell’s Grocery, later Country Farms Grocery, Easton. Carol enjoyed crafts, camping, fishing and staying busy, however her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren

In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband Eugene on March 20, 2021; two brothers, Gary and Ellsworth DeMerchant; two sons-in-law, Timothy Chasse and Roland Michaud.

She is survived by three daughters, Anita Michaud of Caribou, Jennifer Chasse of Easton, Beverly Chasse and her husband Joseph of Fort Fairfield; four grandchildren, Todd Chasse and his companion Lee Ann Keiser of Easton, Wayne Chasse and his wife Ashley of Westfield, Amanda Guerette, Brook Trombley and her husband Matt, all of Fort Fairfield; eight great grandchildren, Rylee Chasse, Rylee Brown, Savana Brown, Cody Chasse, Alex Chasse, Andrew Gagnon, Michael Gagnon, Tatianna Rushing; one sister, Rita Rattray of Fredericton, New Brunswick, several nieces and nephews, including a special cousin, Bonny Murphy and her husband Laurie, and their daughter Merrietta of Upper Knoxford, New Brunswick.

Friends may call Friday, July 30, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at a later date in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Carol to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
