Fort Fairfield – Gregory Fred True, 81, husband of Carolyn (Brooker) True, passed away Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021 at the Presque Isle Aroostook House of Comfort, following an extended illness. He was born November 21, 1939 in Caswell, the son of William A. Sr. and Lenore (Parent) True.

He was married to Carolyn Brooker on July 29, 1968 and had been employed as a forklift operator at the A & P Processing Plant, Fort Fairfield, the Pollack Potato Company, Fort Fairfield, and Barnes Farms, Fort Fairfield. Fred enjoyed “tinkering” and could build or fix most anything. He enjoyed fishing and camping, most especially with his niece, Liesha Milliard and her companion Charles “Chuck” Tucker II; however his greatest joy was being with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie A. Johnston; granddaughter, Bobbi-Jo Johnston, and great granddaughter, Alana Avaleen Nelson, all on March 9, 2015; three brothers, Herman, William and Linwood True; two sisters, Sylvia True and Elizabeth Caldwell.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Fort Fairfield; one granddaughter, Nicole Johnston of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick; two great grandchildren, Logan and Alyssa Johnston, both of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be conducted at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, at a later date. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. True to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
