FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Wendall William Shaw, 91, husband of the late Barbara (Bubar) Shaw, passed away Friday morning, February 4, 2022 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following a period of declining health. He was born October 8, 1930 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Ernest W. and Rena M. (LeVasseur) Shaw.

He was a lifelong resident of Fort Fairfield, where he attended local schools. He was married to Barbara Bubar on November 4, 1948. Wendall was a potato grower for most of his life. He was a member of the former Eastern Frontier Lodge No. 112 A.F. & A.M., and a Past President of the Masonic Club, Fort Fairfield. He was a member and Past Officer of the former Good Will Chapter No. 85 O.E.S., a member of the Trinity Lodge No. 130 A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Lunar Chapter No. 126 O.E.S., both of Presque Isle. Wendall was a former member of the Garfield Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Caribou, St. Aldermar Commandry, Knights Templar of Houlton, and Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor. He was a member and Past President of the Lions Club of Fort Fairfield. He received in 1995 the National Melvin Jones Award, the foundation’s highest honor, by the Lions Club International Foundation. This award is recognition of humanitarian service. He was also a member of the Elks Club of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, and a member of the Fish and Game Club of Fort Fairfield. Wendall was noted for being a great chef and putting on great meals for many local organizations.

In addition to his parents, Wendell was predeceased by his wife, Barbara J. Shaw on August 8, 2014; a sister, Elaine (Mrs. Edgar Blanchard); and a brother, Reginald K. Shaw. He is survived by children, Linda Shaw of Fort Fairfield, Nancy Perry of Westbrook, and Arthur Shaw of Spring Hill, Florida; grandchildren, Anjanette Pike of Rochester, NY, Wren Roy of Minneapolis, MN, Bruce Houghton, Ryan Houghton and Sophia Gribizis, all of Portland, Adam Shaw of Mulberry, FL, Michael Shaw of Easton, Danielle Orser (Charles) of Caribou, and Jared Shaw of LaPorte, IN; great grandchildren, Patricia Walsh of Rochester, NY, Courtney Walsh of Belmont, NH, Kaiden Shaw of Blue Hill, Annistyn Shaw of Ellsworth, Rayven Risnger and Charles Orser, both of Caribou; and adopted great-grandson, Bentley Pike of Rochester, NY, and a great great grandson Aydan Fall of Belmont, NH. Wendall is also survived by brother, Ernest Shaw Jr. of Presque Isle; and sister, Polly Shaw of Bath; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday June 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.at Union Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, with Rev. Mark Babin officiating, preceded by a Masonic memorial service by the officers of the Trinity Masonic Lodge No. 130 A.F & A.M..
