DONALD C. RAND SR.
PRESQUE ISLE & FORT FAIRFIELD

Presque Isle & Fort Fairfield – Donald C. Rand Sr., 73, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Presque Isle Aroostook House of Comfort, following a brief illness. He was born July 17, 1948 in Presque Isle, the son of Weldon and Norma (Lint) Rand.

He attended Washburn schools and went on to serve his country with the United States Army as a radio operator in Vietnam from May 1967 to February 1969, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military discharge, Donald continued to serve with the United States Army Reserves for several years. Donald was married to Linda McPherson on December 27, 1969 and resided in Connecticut for a number of years where he was employed by Ulbrich Wire in North Haven. After relocating to Fort Fairfield, Donald worked at Interstate Foods in several capacities including forklift operator. Donald enjoyed woodworking, working on classic cars, camping and fishing. He was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Fort Fairfield.

He was predeceased by his father, Weldon Rand; his mother and step-father, Norma and Clayton Langley; his wife Linda Rand on July 31, 2014; four brothers, Dana, Stephen, Paul and Sonny Rand; one sister, Diane Tarbox; one grandson, Zain Swan. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald C. “DJ”, Jr. and Georgette Rand of Missouri City, TX; two daughters, Tina Shaw of Presque Isle, Arlene Swan and her husband Daniel of Richmond; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald “Slugger” and Shirley Rand of Indiana; three sisters, Catherine LeVasseur and her husband Roland, Tammy Norsworthy, all of Presque Isle, Barbara Cockran and her husband Leon of Virginia; twelve grandchildren, Jared Shaw and his companion Caitlynn Day of Indiana, Dakota Cundari and husband Brad of New Hampshire, Caleb McArthur, Landon, Gracia, Elissia and Zoelynn Swan, all of Richmond, Danielle Orser and husband Charles of Caribou, Adam Shaw of Florida, Michael Shaw of Presque Isle, Kendra Ireland of Atlanta, GA, Devon Ireland of Salt Lake City, Utah; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service with military honors will take place at the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery at a later date.
