Obituary for Kathryn L. "Kathy" Towle

Kathryn L. "Kathy" Towle
KATHRYN L. TOWLE
FORT FAIRFIELD & EAGLE LAKE

Fort Fairfield & Eagle Lake – Kathryn L. Towle, 59, passed away Saturday evening, January 28, 2023 at Mercy Home, Eagle Lake. She was born June 16, 1963 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Everett L. Sr. and Mavis (Ladner) Towle.

God sent a special needs child into this world so that she could spread joy, laughter and sunshine into the lives of so many. Kathy was among the first children to attend the Opportunity Training Center, later known as the Aroostook Association. The highlight of her day was going to workshop where she would be greeted by her friends and the wonderful staff who worked with her. Kathy loved walking at the mall and was especially delighted when they went to eat Chinese at the Mai Tai, her favorite place. Her participation in the Special Olympics was rewarded with countless trophies and medals, which she proudly displayed in her room. And we can’t forget the Purple Belt she earned in Karate. You might have seen her practicing her Karate moves on the front lawn of her home. Kathy’s favorite pastime was doing latch hook (true masterpieces) and of course, having an “orange beer”, her name for an orange soda. Her winsome personality and unconditional love brought so much happiness to those who knew her. And her hugs were unforgettable!!

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Mercy Home in Eagle Lake, where she has been a resident since February 2020. Many thanks to the staff at Lombard Street Group Home and she very special friend Sandra Hanscom.

Kathy was predeceased by her father, Everett L. Towle Sr.; five sisters, Susan Towle Oldenburg; Nancy Towle Harris, Carleen Towle Coffin, Patricia Towle McCue, Christina Towle Fuller. She is survived by her mother, Mavis L. Towle of Presque Isle; one brother, Everett L. Towle Jr. and his wife Linda of Othello, WA; two sisters, Jacqueline Towle Anderson and her husband Robert of Webster, NY, Mary Towle LeVasseur and her partner Michael Weiss of Vancouver, WA; a special brother-in-law, Tim Oldenburg and his wife Danyel of Dexter; her cousin and guardian, Ruth Ladner of Easton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to list.
