Fort Fairfield – Phyllis G. Barnes, 93, wife of the late Harry N. Barnes, passed away Sunday evening, March 12, 2023 at her Fort Fairfield home, following a brief illness. She was born January 3, 1930 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Roy A. and Amelia (Pinet) Finnemore.

Phyllis attended Fort Fairfield schools, was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and was married to Harry N. Barnes on May 16, 1961. Phyllis truly loved her family above all else, and cherished visits and phone calls from her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Harry on January 20, 2000; one son, Michael Keegan; one son-in-law, Michael Ireland; four sisters, Barbara Combs, Donna Cramer, Nancy Finnemore, and Joyce Newcomb.

She is survived by two sons, Richard R. Keegan and Allan J. Keegan, both of Fort Fairfield; five daughters, Carol Ireland of Ashland, Donna M. Keegan, Michelle L. Jackson, both of Fort Fairfield, Marylee Seamandel and her husband Jeff of Rhine-Lander, WI, Cathy Edmunds and her husband Michael of Fort Fairfield; seventeen grandchildren including special grandchildren, Joshua, Amy, Lauren, Wyatt, Brooklynn, Powers and Paige; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Susan Bergeron and her husband Gary of Sanford.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
