Limestone – Richard M. “Butch” Coutts Sr., 73, husband of Frances G. (Hill) Coutts, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2023 at a Bangor nursing facility, following an extended illness. He was born July 5, 1949 in Auburn, the son of James and Christine (Miles) Coutts.

He attended Auburn schools and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Butch later worked for Sargent Construction Company as a truck driver for a number of years. Butch was married to Frances G. Hill on April 21, 2001, and was a life member and Past Commander of the Auburn VFW Post No 1603. Butch greatly enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to ride his four-wheeler, fishing and camping.

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife Frances of Limestone; one son, Richard M. Coutts Jr. of Danbury, CT; two daughters, Sue Ann Coutts of Danbury, CT, Becky Coutts of Lewiston; one stepson, Scott Montgomery and his wife Cindy of Caribou; one stepdaughter, Brenda Smith and her husband David of Windham; one brother, Doug Coutts of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Judy Withers and Cynthia Greenlaw and her husband David, all of Mechanic Falls; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at a later date at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Coutts to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
