Limestone – Charles Paul “CP” Harris, 81, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 6, 2022 at his Limestone home, following an extended illness. He was born June 25, 1940 in Bradford, PA, the son of Howard Paul and Marion Evelyn (Nenno) Harris.

CP was a graduate of the Bradford, PA High School, Class of 1958 and earned a bachelors degree in Recreational Leadership from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. CP served his country with the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1982 and retired from Loring Air Force Base as Senior Master Sergeant. During his Air Force career, CP had been stationed in North Africa, Okinawa, Guam and Loring AFB as a flight mechanic.

He was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone and was a member of the Northern Maine Development Commission. CP was a lifelong sports enthusiast and a well-known coach in the Limestone, Loring and Caribou communities, where he coached many teams, including the Caribou Girls Baseball, Limestone Junior Varsity Boys, and was a volunteer coach for Limestone Baseball teams for many years. CP also coached the undefeated Loring Air Force Base Flag Football team during the late 1970’s. He loved reading, following sports and especially adored his children and grandchildren. He was truly dedicated to the Loring A.F.B. Youth Center and helping numerous people at both Loring and Limestone from 1976 until Loring’s closure in 1994.

In addition to his parents, CP was predeceased by his longtime companion, Shirley Bretske in 2011: one sister, Patricia Leonard. He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Lee and her husband Spencer of Glendale. AZ, Melanie Harris and her companion Jerry McLaughlin Jr. of Limestone; one brother, Fred Harris and his wife Margie of Bradford, PA; grandchildren, Galadriel P. Lee, and Eowyn P.J. Lee, both of Glendale, AZ, Charles P. Harris II of Limestone; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, February 11, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held in the parish reception area following the service. Interment with military honors will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou at a later date.
