Fort Fairfield – Teresa M. (Gagnon) Cyr, 88, wife of the late Robert J. Cyr, passed away Sunday morning, January 28, 2024 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following an extended illness. She was born March 28, 1935 in Winterville, the daughter of Clarence and Laurette (Saucier) Gagnon.

She attended Fort Fairfield schools and was married to Robert J. Cyr on July 5, 1954. Mrs. Cyr was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle No. 27, Fort Fairfield where she won the Daughter of the Year Award and the Women of Peace Award. She retired as a cook from the Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital, loved to cook for her family and friends and was a member of the Fort Fairfield Senior Sunshine Club.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cyr was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Cyr; one son, Danny R. Cyr; two sisters, Mildred Tranbarger and Rose Ovaldson. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Denise Cyr of Naples, John and Rose Cyr of Portland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Phil Davis of Mapleton, Cathy and Paul Suminski of Turner, Denise and Rick Wyman of Orlando, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Gagnon; one sister, Shirley Polom, all of Fort Fairfield; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon with Rev. Simon Assogba, S.M.A. officiating. Spring interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held following the service at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council No. 1753, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to may contribute in memory of Mrs. Cyr to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
