FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Florence E. Davenport, 90, wife of the late Jasper G. Davenport, passed away Monday afternoon, May 3, 2021 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born May 6, 1930 in Allagash, the daughter of Alfred and Essie Hafford.

She attended schools in both Allagash and Fort Kent, and was married to Jasper G. Davenport on May 6, 1949. Florence had been a member of the Fort Fairfield Bethel Baptist Church for much of her life, and had been employed by the A & P and later Interstate Foods Processing Plant, Fort Fairfield for thirty years and later worked at Goodhue’s Jewelry in Fort Fairfield for a number of years. Florence enjoyed gardening and keeping an impeccable home, both inside and out. She also loved making quilts and gained even more joy from giving them away.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Jasper on Jan. 9, 2000; one son, Terry W. Davenport; one daughter, Gayle A. Davenport; seven brothers, Delbert, Glen, Cecil, Herman, Alfred, Samuel, and Levert Hafford; six sisters, Hazel Snow, Mabel Taylor, Ellen Robbins, Winnifred Walker, Minnie Walker, Elizabeth Hafford.

She is survived by one son, Larry G. Davenport and his companion, Karen Rockwell of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Bonnie L. Moore and her husband B. J. of Kingman, AZ; two grandchildren, Nerissa Archuletta of Kingman, AZ, Devin Archuletta of Harrisburg, PA; two great grandchildren, Selina and Veronica. She also leaves behind two special sisters-in-law, Jonah Hafford of Fort Kent, and Alice Kinney of California Settlement, New Brunswick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday May 8, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield at a later date.
